Losing a Legend
Donald Sutherland was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in July of 1935. On June 20th of this year Sutherland passed away at the age of 88 after a long illness.
His son, Kiefer, a fantastic actor in his own right, took to social media to announce his father’s death. “He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived”.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau chimed in – saying, “We’ve lost one of the greats. Donald Sutherland brought a level of brilliance to his craft few could match. A remarkable, legendary actor — and a great Canadian”.
Sutherland’s career spanned six decades beginning with small bit parts in British films and television in the early 1960s. While he was never nominated for an Academy Award he did win a Prime time Emmy, two Golden Globes and was given an honorary Academy Award in 2017.
Through the Years
Donald Sutherland is one of those actors, for me anyway, who makes every movie he’s in even better. It was fun to go back through the years and pick out some of my favorite Sutherland films.
